'THE ATMOSPHERIC HUMAN' is the contribution by MAGICARCH to the 3rd Istanbul Design Biennial, Co-curated
by Beatriz Colomina and Mark Wigley.
Does
the human need to be adapted, Does the human need to be transhuman?, Does the
human just need to be extinguished?
'THE
ATMOSPHERIC HUMAN' is an atmospherical overview of the invisibles within the posthumanism
design and raising a human adaptability controversy. In 1967 Jørgen Leth
in the short movie 'The perfect human' was wondering about the human
perfection, 'How does such a number function? what kind of thing is it?' 50
years later the techno-science, the visualization of energies and the entire
world has embrace the human invisibles as radical part of design, going beyond
the cyberpunk and coming to reality by trying to create a perfect atmospheric
human. 'THE ATMOSPHERIC HUMAN' it is exposed as a debated by envisioning several
panoramas of invisible design, named as a 'atmospheres layers' and being just a
beginning of infinite layers.
'take your pleasures, seriously'
take your atmospheres, seriously.....

the Open Call:
DESIGN IS ALWAYS DESIGN OF THE HUMAN
THE HUMAN IS THE DESIGNING ANIMAL
OUR SPECIES IS COMPLETELY SUSPENDED IN ENDLESS LAYERS OF DESIGN
DESIGN RADICALLY EXPANDS HUMAN CAPABILITY
DESIGN ROUTINELY CONSTRUCTS RADICAL INEQUALITIES
DESIGN IS EVEN THE DESIGN OF NEGLECT
“GOOD DESIGN” IS AN ANESTHETIC
DESIGN WITHOUT ANESTHETIC ASKS URGENT QUESTIONS
ABOUT OUR HUMANITY
ABOUT OUR HUMANITY

An international and interdisciplinary jury consisting of curators Beatriz Colomina and Mark Wigley, Director of Istanbul Film Festival Kerem Ayan, Director of the Storefront for Art and Architecture Eva Franch i Gilabert, artist and film producer Amie Siegel and curator Iván López Munuera evaluated more than 200 videos from 68 cities in 36 countries and selected 5 videos to be highlighted in the biennial exhibition and catalogue.
